Hilary (she/her) is a Speech-Language Pathologist helping diverse people of all ages, genders, and identities use their voice to express themselves with greater authenticity, clarity, ease, and confidence.
Certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the CT Department of Public Health, she holds a BA from Harvard University and MA from Southern CT State University. She is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Technique (LSVT LOUD) and has also trained in voice and acting at the Linklater Center for Voice and Language and Kimball Studio in New York City. Hilary has worked as a speech pathologist in hospital, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and home health settings.
Now in private practice Hilary enjoys using her extensive training in voice to help other people find theirs--particularly those who've been marginalized. She works with trans and gender nonconforming people to help find and/or create the voice that best represents who they are through specialized vocal modification techniques. She empowers actors, artists, and activists through voice and accent/dialect modification, projection, articulation, and freeing the vocal channel to convey greater emotional depth and range. Hilary also treats voice injuries to heal, restore, and create healthy patterns of vocal use. And her first love as a speech pathologist was in treating speech, language, and cognitive impairment for those affected by neurological conditions such as stroke (CVA), Parkinson's, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Most recently Hilary has begun helping young adults with autism (ASD) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Hilary has also been a life-long student and practitioner of meditation, which she incorporates into her work, and which began with the study and practice of hatha yoga, which she taught at NYC's Virayoga. All of these passions combined have equipped Hilary with a broad array of tools to help creatively open and free authentic and empowered channels of communication. With gentleness, patience, creativity, and compassion, Hilary uses a "whole-person," therapeutic approach to give more people who deserve to be heard...a voice!
